Description
Vector-tensor theories of gravity have received renewed attention in recent years as a compelling candidate to explain cosmic acceleration in a dynamical way, while also addressing the shortcomings of the more familiar scalar-tensor class of models. After a review of these developments, I will present a novel theory characterized by its simplicity and phenomenological features: it predicts exactly luminal gravitational waves and consistent cosmological histories exhibiting late-time acceleration without a cosmological constant. The model is successful in fitting data at a comparable level with LambdaCDM, while also being capable to alleviate the Hubble tension.
