Description
We present a new Phoebus data source that speaks directly to PVWS (PV Web Socket) endpoints, enabling low-latency, firewall-friendly access to EPICS Process Variables. PVWS bridges Channel Access and PVAccess to WebSockets and transmits values plus metadata (units, limits, severity, timestamps), sending full metadata once and then only deltas—reducing bandwidth. Integrating this datasource in Phoebus lets any applications (e.g., Display Builder, Data Browser) to subscribe, write (when permitted), and operate seamlessly against control systems remotely via standard web infrastructure.
