Description
In January 2020, the US DOE approved the realization of the Electron Ion Collider (EIC) to be built at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in partnership with Jefferson Laboratory. An "EIC project" was stood up and it is now leading the realization of the machine and working with the world-wide EIC Users towards the construction of up to two EIC detectors. In this talk, I will review the science of EIC and then present the currents status of the EIC and detector planning including the state of physics collaborations and detector designs.
