Scientific Program

This is a small workshop at Rutgers University on June 5-7 to discuss the Status of the Galactic Center Gamma-Ray Excess among invited researchers.

The purpose of the workshop is to discuss what we do and do not currently know about the characteristics of this signal, with the intent of developing a community consensus. Major questions that will have dedicated discussion are the smoothness and potential substructure within the signal, and the whether the morphology is spherical or instead traces stellar populations.

The ultimate goal would be to develop a document from the participants that summarizes any consensus views that we might reach on these and other related issues. Such a document could be very important in clarifying the situation for the broader scientific community.
