Description
The notion of a string compactification on a smooth Calabi-Yau manifold is only valid in certain "large volume" regions in the moduli space. In this talk we will discuss what can happen in other asymptotic regions of the moduli space where a simple geometric picture does not apply and how one can use physics technology such as gauged linear sigma models (GLSMs) to study those regions.
