IOP Joint APP and HEPP Annual Conference 2026

From 8-10 April 2026, the Institute of Physics will be bringing together the UK & Irish High Energy Particle Physics and Astroparticle Physics communities for a joint annual conference.

Registration is now open through the IOP

Outline timings

Coffee breaks and lunch will be scheduled during the sessions!

  • Tuesday 7th April
    • afternoon: Bubble chamber cup
    • afternoon: outreach event
  • Wednesday 8th April
    • 10am: welcome coffee
    • 10.30am-6pm: plenaries & parallel sessions;
    • 6-7.30pm poster session
  • Thursday 9th April
    • 9am-2.45pm: plenaries & parallel sessions;
    • 2.45-6.15pm: STFC town meeting (inc coffee break)
    • 7.30pm-late: light dinner and ceilidh
  • Friday 11th April
    • 9.30am-4pm: plenaries & parallel sessions
    • 5pm: public panel discussion on Big Science and Societal Impact

Extra-Curricular Events: Bubble Chamber Cup & Whisky Tasting
We will hold the Bubble Chamber Cup on the afternoon of Tuesday 7th April at Peffermill Playing Fields. The 5-a-side matches (6-a-side in case we have more players) will be played at a location close to the conference venues (to be announced nearer the time).  See registration below for more details.
 
All people from HEP and APP are welcome to play. Athletic ability is not required, but a competitive spirit is mandatory!
 
Whisky Tasting: planning for a whisky tasting is at an advanced stage!  This would take place Tuesday 7th and/or Wednesday 8th.  There is a fee for this and places are limited.  Fill in registration form below if you are interested.
