The workshop is aimed at PhD students from the MWGaia Doctoral Training Network network. The school is also open to a limited number of participants from outside the network.

The school gives an overview of the interplay between gravition (both relativistic and non-relativistic) and high-accuracy astrometry. This includes:

  • Relativity and astrometry
    • An introduction to the experimental state of relativistic gravitation
    • The standard relativistic modelling for Gaia-like astrometry
    • Relativistic modelling beyond the standard Gaia model
    • Gravitational waves with astrometry
  • Gravitation in action
    • Non-single stars in Gaia
    • Gravitational microlensing with Gaia
    • Strong gravitational lensing with Gaia
    • Astrometry of solar system objects with Gaia
  • High-accuracy astrometry beyond Gaia
    • Pulsar Timing and Astrometry
    • Radio astrometry with VLBI
    • Astrometry of the Galactic Center with GRAVITY

Finally, we will have a general presentation of the newly created German Center for Astrophysics.

During unconference sessions participants will work on short scientific projects, using Gaia data and with expert help available.

A detailed programme will be announced later.

Participants should make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. There is no registration fee for this school. MWGaiaDN covers the costs for the venue and also for the catering (lunches, coffee/tea) throughout the event.

MWGaiaDN is a Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network funded under grant agreement no. 101072454.
