Supersymmetric Higher Spins & their Interactions: Recent developments and future directions

by Dr Konstantinos Koutrolikos (University of Maryland)

Description

The tremendous success of the Standard Model and General Relativity at explaining a huge range of phenomena with unprecedented accuracy has, inadvertently, limited our exploration of Field Theory to particles with spins no greater than two.  However, String Theory proposes a more nuanced structure by postulating an infinite tower of modes with arbitrarily large spin. Building upon this insight, I present manifestly supersymmetric effective field theories that accommodate higher spin particles and discuss recent advancements regarding their interactions.  In addition, I highlight the roles these higher spins may play in a range of exciting topics from Cosmological Collider Physics to extensions of (super) geometry and models of Quantum Gravity.
