Seminar on AI for EIC
Seminar Hall
Department of Physics
The Electron-Ion collider is a planned high-energy, high-luminosity polarized collider that will be one of the most challenging and exciting accelerator complexes ever built. The EIC will be a discovery machine, providing answers to long-elusive mysteries of matter related to our understanding the origin of mass, structure, and binding of atomic nuclei that make up the entire visible universe.
The Department of Physics, CU Karnataka is a member of the EIC-India collaboration and will participate in the data acquisition and muon id activities of the experiment. Owing to the large scale of the experiment, it offers scope for young students to participate in internships, training programs and workshops both national and international. In addition, various institutions abroad have already started enrolling PhD students and postdocs for this programme.
This seminar is intended to get you introduced to the world of EIC, specifically the use of AI in various activities, amongst other interesting works. The speaker is our student, Dr. Suresh Karthik, now a postdoc at the College of William and Mary, who plays an important role in the AI-related activities of EIC.
There will also be an informal session to discuss potential projects in EIC to get started and pathways to PhD programmes outside India, in the context of EIC.
