Aspects of Heavy and Light New Physics

In the first part of the talk, I will give a brief (and partial) summary of the current situation in the search for physics beyond the Standard Model, particularly by critically reviewing the classic scenarios, where the new physics is heavy (above the electroweak scale). In the second part, I will discuss the possibility of having new light and weakly coupled physics, and I will discuss the importance of the ultraviolet completion of such models.
