The muon anomalous magnetic moment, quo vadis?

The long-standing tension between the experimental measurement and the theoretical prediction of the muon anomalous magnetic moment has been a tantalizing hint for new physics for a long time. While the experimental effort continues worldwide, additional tensions are rising among different theoretical predictions based on dispersive methods and Lattice QCD. In this talk I will review the topic with particular emphasis on the recent progress in Lattice QCD predictions.
