Description

The production of high-pT photons is a classical collider observable, which both provides a probe of QCD dynamics and is used in searches for New Physics. To fully utilize this instrument the theoretical predictions need to match the experimental accuracy, which can be achieved by the inclusion of NNLO QCD corrections. Moreover it requires a clear definition of a photon in the collider environment, which is not trivial and leads to the notion of photon isolation.

In this seminar I will give an overview of possible ways to define isolated photons, focusing on cone based isolations. I will discuss the concept of the so called hybrid isolation and its application in a recent inclusive photon/photon+jet study up to NNLO QCD accuracy, and confront the results with the latest data from ATLAS and CMS.
