How to include exclusive J/psi production data in global PDF analyses

We discuss how one may include exclusive J/psi production data in global PDF analyses. After reviewing the current status of the theoretical result to NLO, now stable and reliable owing to resummation of a class of large logarithms and implementation of a QO cut, we, for the first time, make a comparison with data giving indications how the small x gluon will be modified. We will also report on constraints on this behaviour emanating from a phenomenological analysis within the D sector, alluding to a different low x, low scale gluon and the need to reconcile these two independent approaches. We end by noting various inconsistencies in the inclusive D meson production data.
