Description

CERN established its Quantum Technology Initiative in 2020 with the goal of assessing the impact on High-Energy Physics and understand how CERN could contribute to scientific and technology development. After three years a programme is now in place that foresees the establishment of "Centres of Competence" in areas such as quantum networks, computing and sensing. This talk explains the motivations behind the programme, the current activities and collaborations, and the specific plans and challenges in the area of Quantum Computing for particle physics theory and experiments for the next 3 to 5 years.
