Description
The SNOLAB facility is located within an active mine, and as such the experiments housed there are subject to daily seismic activity, both planned and unplanned. For this reason, A hydrophone has been installed within the water shielding tank of DEAP-3600, an ultra-low background dark matter experiment, to act as a seismograph and to identify and timestamp seismic activity. This presentation outlines the reasons for installing a seismograph, and documents the installation and integration of the hydrophone into the existing data acquisition system.
This talk won the SNOLAB summer student competition.
