Description
Queen's University is celebrating its 175th year. Physics and astronomy have been taught here since the early days; an independent department was formed over a century ago; the engineering physics program was started about that time and research became a feature of the Department. We shall begin with a brief chronology and then illustrate the development of physics at Queen's by sketching a few of its memorable characters and by drawing on items from the Department's collection of historical equipment and documents.
