Description
How can physicists have a stronger voice in government? We should be regularly posing this question before government budget decisions, before funding deadlines for scientific projects or infrastructure loom.
Scientists in general, not to mention physicists, are not represented in large numbers in the country’s legislatures, nor are they commonly sighted in the halls and offices of Parliament, nor are they particularly engaged in politics, compared to some other professions or groups.
The speaker will outline some ideas for the audience to act upon, based on his personal experience, which may help to increase the visibility and influence of scientists in the world of politics and government.
