Description

The Standard Model of particle physics is extremely successful in describing fundamental particles and their interactions. However, as soon as you combine quarks and gluons to hadrons like the proton or mesons, you can no longer treat the interaction in perturbative terms and our understanding begins to fade and new phenomena emerge. Hadron physics in the non-perturbative realm is one of the last missing puzzle pieces in the Standard Model of nuclear and particle physics. Hadron physics covers a wide range of topics - from the structure of hadrons to the spectroscopy of quark and gluon states to hadronic interactions. Experimentally, one uses electrons, photons, protons, antiprotons, muons, pions, and kaons at various research centers around the world. The talk will give an insight into the most interesting results obtained and show the perspectives for the future. In particular the FAIR facility with the PANDA experiment will play a major role in future.

Connections will begin at 12:30 with the seminar beginning at 13:00. Password for Zoom is NielsBohr.
