HS3 and ROOT PRs

  • Steffen walks us through list posted in ModelFormats mattermost channel

| # | HS3 | Topic | Needs first (HS3) | Unblocks in ROOT | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | #132 (issue) | poisson_dist: discrete vs. continuous variant | – | follow-up ROOT PR (small) | needs a decision early, so that the ROOT implementation can still make it into v0.3 |
| 2 | #135 | Small normative JSON fixes | – | root#23840 (together with #124) | closes #46, #47 |
| 3 | #124 | HistFactory specification sync | – | root#23840 (together with #135) | closes #68 |
| 4 | #126 | Refactor axes | #124 | root#24001 | merge after #124 (one-line conflict in the HistFactory axes bullet) |
| 5 | #119 | Combined data sets, combined/conditional distributions | #126 (text conflict in 2.3_data.md) | root#24005 | |
| 6 | #109 | array_dist | #124 | root#24013 | rebase onto #124 once it is merged |
| 7 | #131 | Parameters not listed in any domain | – | – | ROOT already behaves as specified |
| 8 | #134 | Language and consistency fixes (non-normative) | – | – | best merged last: it touches many files and would otherwise force rebases of the others |
| 9 | follow-up to #132 | implementation of the decision on #132 | #132 | ROOT PR to be opened | |

(indico should know markdown, but apparently not all features are enabled here)
- Please send comments until Monday.
- The PRs are also tied to ROOT PRs, which are needed for the Higgs releases and will be shipped under a new version tag.

Meeting in Dresden

  • 13 participants registered. To fix the schedule, please think about contributions

Round table

Hadrons

  • Standard description WIP, Gallery examples merged, EvtGen MR to support generic helicity formalism (here amplitude-serialization json format, but easy to adapt to other formats too)

Neutrinos

  • Julian shows FlatPPL model for DataBay gallery example implemented with a Qwen model. Ben suggests using AMS sampler, and results looked better immediately.

Astroparticles

  • Reproduction of M51 results for gallery example progressing well. Johannes showed reproduced plots made with open source part of model and reasonable assumptions. Needs some double checks, as reproduced code is many orders of magnitude faster than original implementation.

Laser

  • Gallery WIP, Exchange with Astroparticles about format.
