Description

This initiative aims at securing a slot for Hadron Physics at MIAPbP Programme in 2028,

Notes:
- participants are financially supported for their stay in Munich for the time of the program.
- the indico “register” button is used to collect replies [as alternative to email replies] and form a list of people who are potentially interested. It is not registration for the workshop.
- the support message does not have to be long, “I would like to support, The initiative is useful because…"

"AI for Hadron Physics"

How might AI transform hadron physics if we invested in it at scale?
It will eventually become possible to turn thousands of electronic minds towards QCD. What questions should we ask them?

QCD spans many regimes: short and long distances, light and heavy quarks, and the spectra, structure and reactions of hadrons. Experiments probe these regimes through different setups, environments and production mechanisms. Theory approaches them through different computational techniques and effective descriptions: lattice QCD, effective field theories, perturbative calculations and phenomenological models. Each approach captures part of the physics, while the connections between them remain incomplete. Could AI help connect these approaches, translate between frameworks, or reveal and unify dual descriptions? Might there be a common computational fabric for QCD, and what form could it take?

We propose a four-week MIAPbP programme around these two questions: which problems in QCD are worthy of large-scale AI effort, and whether AI can help us connect its theories, methods and data across regimes. The programme will bring theorists, experimentalists and AI researchers together to test this possibility, determine what physical constraints and standards of validation it would require, and formulate research challenges and a roadmap for a shared human--AI effort.

MIAPbP programme overview:

  • Each program lasts four weeks
  • A minimum stay of two weeks is required
  • Approx. 60-70 participants per program (45 at any given time)
  • Typically 1-2 seminars/day or perhaps only a few per week
  • Plenty of time for collaborative work
  • Social events to promote networking and collaborations

Please read the "REGISTER" button as expression of interest, not commitment is attached to it.
