In this seminar, we will review path integrals in Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity using methods from hyperbolic geometry. JT gravity is a two-dimensional gravitational theory in which a scalar field called the dilaton is coupled to gravity. When the cosmological constant is negative, integrating over the dilaton fixes the bulk curvature to a negative constant, resulting in hyperbolic geometry in the bulk. Due to this property, the path integral for gravity reduces to an integral over the moduli space of a hyperbolic surface and can be explicitly calculated using the Weil-Petersson volume and the Mirzakhani recursion. Furthermore, the boundary degrees of freedom are described by the Schwarzian action, and their partition function can also be evaluated exactly. If time permits, I will briefly introduce the Saad-Shenker-Stanford (SSS) correspondence, which relates these results to the random matrix model.
