Description

The Romanian CubeSat 1U satellite “EMISAR” (NORAD ID: #68427U, International Designator ID: 2026-067M), which was successfully launched in march 30th 2026, gave the motivation for taking on the challenge of observing with optical SST sensors of Astronomical Observatory Cluj-Napoca – Feleacu Station. We present the observations made during several observing sessions in the interval 19th April to 26th May 2026. The main goal of the observations was to obtain accurate astrometrical positions, which supported the communication ground station of the satellite. Additionally, we obtained photometrical results for the flashes – glints of the satellite, which could be further used for its attitude. The results obtained demonstrate the capabilities of our SST sensors and open new opportunities for nanosatellites and centimetre class space debris.
