Focus Carriere Science - Astro

Come and learn from former researchers who have successfully transitioned into diverse professional fields. Discover which skills are most valued, the key differences between academia and the private sector, how their studies and research experience prepared them for their current roles, and what to highlight in your CV and job applications. This event is open to Master’s and PhD students, as well as early-career researchers and anybody interested to join! 

We will host two former Astrophysicists from UniGE, who are now in Data-Science.

They are also NCCR PlanetS Alumni, and started their career outside academia thanks to a PlanetS Externship.

- Nicolas Unger (PhD in 2023 and at the Observatory until Jun 25, now data scientist at Vyntra Global )

- Lokesh Mishra (PhD in 2022 at the Observatory, then at IBM, Zalando and now Mentiora AI)

They will briefly present their path, highlight the key differences between academia and the private sector and what’s their take about the skills valued for a career in data science. Most important, they will be open to discussing with you and answer your questions in an informal setting.

The event will start at 13:30 with their presentations and will be followed by a long Q&A session, until 15:00.
