Description

GR is understood as the unique theory of a single massless spin-2 particle, the graviton. From a particle physics perspective, the most natural and minimal extension to gravity entails the introduction of a massive spin-2 field that does not spoil the successful predictions of GR. Bimetric gravity is a theory of gravity that posits the existence of two interacting and dynamical metric tensors. The spectrum of bimetric gravity consists of a massless and a massive spin-2 particle. The form of the interactions between the two metrics is constrained by requiring absence of the so called Boulware-Deser ghost. In this talk, I will discuss extended bimetric gravity theories, primarily focusing on their applications in cosmology.
