Multi-messenger constraints on core-collapse supernovae in the Local Universe (Part I)

Description

Identifying the central engine of core-collapse supernovae (CC-SNe) is key objective in observational astronomy. This may be unveiled by gravitational wave emission, complementary to EM and neutrinos, that may break the degeneracy between neutron stars and black holes. Through illustrative case studies, we demonstrate the discovery potential of this approach with current-generation GW detectors, promising a new window into the physics of stellar death and compact object formation.
