Quick recap

The meeting began with discussions about technical difficulties with meeting invitations and calendar synchronization, followed by updates on a deliverable document for Work Package 4 focusing on data access protocols and formatting. The team addressed software documentation scope, agreeing to focus on explicitly funded ACME software packages, and discussed the progress of Section 4 which Mark confirmed would be completed by week's end. The conversation ended with presentations on infrastructure reports for Antares and KM3Net, including discussions about data storage and access issues, and announcements about upcoming hands-on sessions and data releases.

  • Bruno: Prepare presentation on the standards document for face-to-face meeting in December
  • All participants: Register for ACME WP4 face-to-face meeting in December
  • All participants: Indicate if they can provide hands-on sessions when registering for December meeting
  • Steffen/Jutta/Kay: Make final Antares dataset available in near future
  • Steffen/Jutta/Kay and Denys: Fix broken MMODA service for Antares data access offline
  • Kay and MMODA team: Organize specialized meeting with specialists on MMODA to ensure links to individual groups are correct
  • Jordi and KM3Net team: Work together to validate ingested Antares data in Cosmo Hub platform

Summary

Indico Calendar and Standards Review

The meeting began with technical difficulties regarding meeting invitations and calendar synchronization, which Andrii acknowledged and apologized for the late notice. Jutta suggested creating meeting entries earlier to help with calendar synchronization. Kay explained how Indico calendar synchronization works, and Marjolein shared her experience using Indico for meeting series management. The main focus of the meeting was on a deliverable document on standards, which Bruno and Mark had been working on. They were asked to explain what was still missing from the document.

Work Package 4 Document Updates

The team discussed updates to a document for Work Package 4, focusing on data access protocols and formatting. They identified missing information for UTR2 and YMERLA, with Oleg agreeing to add details after the meeting. The group also addressed the inclusion of the University of Manchester, noting they were not required participants but could be contacted. Bruno mentioned adding a section on forcing activities to acknowledge team efforts, and Andrii planned to follow up on formats for X-ray and Christmas Eve data.

Software Documentation Scope Discussion

The team discussed the scope of their deliverable, particularly regarding software documentation. Bruno presented a table of software packages, but Mark expressed concerns about the extra work involved and suggested focusing on officially funded software. Andrii proposed a compromise where they could mention explicitly funded software in the text without creating an exhaustive table. The team agreed to proceed with this approach, listing only software packages that are explicitly funded by ACME. They also discussed the progress of Section 4 about data access protocols, aiming to complete a draft by the end of the following week.

Document Progress and Conference Planning

The team discussed progress on a document, with Mark confirming he would complete Section 4 by the end of the week. Andrii informed the group about an upcoming face-to-face meeting for Work Package 4 in December, which will be held during the ADAS conference. The team agreed to have a presentation and discussion on the document's findings at this meeting. Bruno and Andrii also shared links to upcoming meetings, encouraging everyone to register and participate.

Antares-KM3Net Infrastructure Integration Overview

Steffen presented a combined infrastructure report for Antares and KM3Net, highlighting their similarities and the integration of Antares data into KM3Net. He explained the data collection, reconstruction, and analysis processes, as well as the challenges in handling large data volumes. Steffen outlined the open science initiatives, including the use of virtual observatories, data centers, and software containers for data access and analysis. He also discussed the decision to preserve Antares data within KM3Net, noting the overlap between the two collaborations and the ease of transition due to shared infrastructure. Andrii inquired about the availability of the final Antares dataset and software, which Steffen confirmed would be available in the near future. Bruno asked about the UACT data release plan and its 50 gigabyte limit, but the transcript did not provide a clear answer.

Data Storage and Access Planning

The group discussed data storage and access issues, particularly regarding Zenodo's 50GB limit. Jutta clarified that while Zenodo is currently used for metadata and DOI purposes, the long-term plan is to manage full data access through their own infrastructure. Kay confirmed that Antares data is already available through their open data system, with over 350 downloads of ultra-high energy event data, meeting ACME project goals. The group also discussed the lack of travel funding for the December face-to-face meeting, with Andrii mentioning potential limited support from the Bernoulli Center.

Python API and Data Updates

The team discussed issues with a Python client accessing an API for an open data center, noting that while the current client is broken, they haven't updated it yet due to direct link access within projects. Andrii announced an upcoming hands-on session in December at the Bernoulli Center, where participants can work on development tasks, fix broken services, and demonstrate their open science center projects. Jordi highlighted the release of 2007-2017 point sources data on the Cosmo Hub platform, inviting others to validate the data and test use cases.
