The latest high-precision measurement of the muon anomalous magnetic moment at Fermilab has placed the Standard Model prediction under renewed and stringent scrutiny. On the theory side, achieving better control over the hadronic contributions is essential for a more discriminating comparison with experiment. After summarising the current status of these contributions, I will focus on the hadronic light-by-light scattering term and the dispersive framework that enabled its first fully data-driven determination. I will also outline prospects for further reducing the theoretical uncertainties in hadronic contributions and their impact on the overall prediction for the muon g–2.
