Description
The experimentally challenging $J^P=1/2^-$ baryons play a key role in the understanding of QCD dynamics. Building on previous work by the BaSc collaboration on the $\Lambda$(1405), the $\Xi$(1620) sector is analyzed. We present an ongoing lattice QCD study of the energy region near the lowest thresholds, which is, to our knowledge, the first simulation with three coupled meson-baryon channels. An ensemble with 2+1 flavors from the CLS consortium with $m_\pi=285$ MeV, $m_K=460$ MeV is employed. Using the stochastic Laplacian Heaviside smearing, both single-hadron and meson-baryon operators are considered in several irreps and moving frames. Preliminary results for extracted finite-volume energy levels are discussed.
