Dr. Rodríguez-Villafuerte is a researcher and actual Director of the Institute of Physics at UNAM (IFUNAM). She has specialized studies on the Physics of Nuclear Medicine and Dosimetry. In 2014 she was the founder of the Biomedical Imaging Laboratory at IFUNAM. The lab's core work involves developing advanced instrumentation for medical applications, optimizing radiation detectors, running Monte Carlo simulations of radiation transport, and designing small-animal medical imaging prototypes (microSPECT, microPET, microCT). Her research also includes contributions to high-spatial resolution dosimetry for electronic brachytherapy.
