The field of ground-based gamma-ray astronomy is emerging as a powerful tool to probe the very high energy processes at work in the extreme astrophysical environments of the Universe. Rapid development of the state-of-the-art gamma-ray telescopes in different corners of the world and scientific achievements through observations in a unique energy window of a few tens of GeV to hundreds of TeV have established the status of the field as real astronomy. The science results obtained from the successful operations of TACTIC at Mount Abu since 1997 and MACE at Hanle since 2021 have made very significant and important contributions to the ongoing global efforts in the field of very high energy gamma-ray astronomy. These two telescopes are the only national facilities for carrying out front line research in the fields of high energy astrophysics, astroparticle physics and observational cosmology.

The 3rd DAE-BRNS School on Very High Energy Astrophysics aims to provide the participants with practical experience and strong theoretical background in rapidly developing field of very high energy astrophysics, and foster discussions about exploiting the science data.It is intended for post graduate students and early PhD scholars from the Indian universities and higher education institutes.

School will be held at the GOALS Guest House in Mount Abu - a hill station in Rajasthan near the Gujarat border. It is located at an altitude of about 1.5 km and offers excellent logistics, mild cold climate and dust free atmosphere. This place is well connected to the major Indian cities. Nearest railway station for traveling to Mount Abu is Abu Road.
