DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Elena Benedetto (NCCR PlanetS / UniGE)\n\n\nSwiss In
novation for Astrophysics and Planetary Science\nPlease subscribe to the m
 ailing-list to be informed about future events.\n \nJanuary 20-22\, 2026\
, Bern\nDrawing on Switzerland’s excellence in astrophysics and in engin
eering\, the conference bridges science needs and technology solutions to
shape the future of astronomical instrumentation.\nThe purpose of this co
nference is to: \n\nAlign the Swiss technical expertise with the scientif
ic needs of upcoming national and international programs:\n\nfor ground a
nd space telescopes and instrumentation\nfor in-situ experiments and instr
umentation\n\n\n\n\nBring together the Swiss engineering partners – incl
uding from Universities\, Universities of Applied Science\, national Resea
rch Centers\, and Industry (large enterprises and SMEs) - engaged or inter
ested to support technology development for Big Science. \n\n\nEstablish
a national coordination platform to promote long-term planning and collabo
ration for the next-generation of instruments for ground and space mission
s.\n\nThis first event is promoted by the Technology and Innovation Platf
orm of the NCCR PlanetS\, as it marks a pivotal year for the Swiss exo-pla
netary science community: the conclusion of 12 years of outstanding activi
ties of the NCCR and the creation of the Swiss Institute for Planetary Sci
ence.\nWhile the starting point are the needs of exo-planetary research\,
the ambition is to broaden the scope and engage the entire astrophysics co
mmunity and the engineering partners. This national event will strengthen
the synergies between research and industry and advance the Swiss technica
l capabilities in ground and space telescope and instrumentation.\nProgram
\nThe program is structured to match the "needs" of the research\, i.e. c
hallenges\, future missions\, with the “solutions”  that industry and
engineering research groups can bring – and have successfully provided
in the past – in the development of scientific instrumentation or in
providing cutting-edge technology for scientific applications.\nWithin the
three days of the program\, we will address (tentative topic distribution
  - adjustments can be made):\n\nDay1 : Big data handling & automation\, Em
 bedded software\, High Performance Computing\nDay2 : Opto-mechanical syste
 ms\, Vacuum / Cryogenics\, Electronics\, Robotics and automation\nDay3 :
 Photonics and Lasers\, Sensing and Detectors\n\n \n\n \nScientific Organ
