Description
The Haleakalā High altitude observatory is 3000 meters above sea level on an isolated peak on the island of Maui. The geographical location makes it the best site in the world for studying the sun, and one of the best sights for night time astronomy. I will discuss the site and the Hawaii Student Teacher Astronomical Research program (HI STAR) our efforts to train the next generations of scientists.
