The 2022 International Workshop on Baryon and Lepton Number Violation (BLV2022) will be hosted by the Service de Physique Théorique of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), on September 5-8, 2022.
(This is BLV2021, which was postponed by one year due to Covid-19).
After Berkeley (2007), Madison (2009), Gattinburg (2011), Heidelberg (2013), UMass (2015), Cleveland (2017) and Madrid (2019) this will be the eighth edition of this workshop. The 5 main topics of this workshop are:
- baryogenesis,
- baryon lepton number violation
- lepton number and lepton flavor violation
- neutrinos
- dark matter
so that it covers a wide range of BSM physics, with both a theoretical and an experimental component.
Oral contributions are by invitation only, except for PhD students: They are welcome to apply to participate in the PhD forum session with a short plenary talk (7 minutes).
This workshop is supported by the ULB, the "Higgs boson gateway to physics beyond the Standard Model" Excellence of Science grant (Nr. 30820817) and the Solvay Institute.

We use the framework of asymptotically safe quantum gravity to derive predictions for New Physics (NP) models with an extra U(1)' symmetry as a solution to the b → s flavor anomalies. We study three different (but similar) models with vector-like (VL) fermions and a scalar whose vev breaks the U(1)' symmetry. The flavor-violating coupling of the new gauge boson Z' with the b and s quarks is generated via the mixing with the VL quarks. The coupling of Z' with muons is obtained either by the mixing with VL leptons, or directly by identifying U(1)' with a
symmetry. The presence of an interactive UV fixed point in the system of gauge and Yukawa couplings of our NP models imposes a set of boundary conditions at the Planck scale, which allows one to determine low-energy values of the NP Yukawa vector elements. As a consequence, the allowed NP mass range consistent with the solution to the b-s anomalies can be significantly narrowed down.
We also confront the models with the null results of the LHC searches for VL fermions and the new gauge boson Z'.Speakers: Mr Abhishek Chikkaballi (National Center for Nuclear Research, Warsaw), Daniele Rizzo (NCBJ), Enrico Maria Sessolo (NCBJ, Warsaw), Dr Kamila Kowalska (National Centre for Nuclear Research), Dr Wojciech Kotlarski
