Simon Plätzer, "A new perspective on hadronization models"
Event generators describe infrared sensitive observables by a combination of parton showers and phenomenological hadronization models. While parton showers have recently received significant attention, hadronization models have only seen little updates. In this talk I will argue that we cannot address parton showers and hadronization models independently, and that they should be analyzed together in a factorized approach based on renormalization group arguments. This view had been deeply developed in the context of amplitude evolution, additionally including phenomena such as colour reconnection alongside better parton shower algorithms, and we have recently made first steps to include part of this dynamics in the Herwig cluster model, both relevant to jet physics as well as to hadronization in the low energy, low-multiplicity regime.
