It is advisable not to make travel arrangements until you are approved in GIS.
U.S. citizens who are planning to use Brookhaven Lab's onsite accommodations must also complete the additional Brookhaven Lab Guest Form and be approved in the Guest Information System (GIS).
If you have a current Brookhaven Lab guest appointment and a valid BNL Guest Number or you have a pending Guest Registration (GR) Number, it is not necessary to complete the additional Brookhaven Lab Guest Form again.
Visa Information
Participants should check if they require a visa to enter the United States on the U.S. Department of State's U.S. Visas website.
Foreign travelers, who are citizens from certain eligible countries, may also be able to visit the U.S. for business (e.g., attend a scientific conference) or tourism for 90 days or less without a visa if they meet the Visa Waiver Program requirements. All eligible travelers who wish to travel under the Visa Waiver Program must apply for authorization online through ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization).

Directions
BNL is located at the east side of long island, east to the New York City (NYC).
Our meeting location is building 535 room A122 (shown as 535B in some maps, 535B = 535).
In the map from the "Directions" link, you will need to change the start and end locations yourself. You might be directed to Building 400 for badging before going to Building 535.
There are three major airports in the area: JFK, LGA and EWR.
EWR is located at New Jersey (west to NYC). JFK and LGA are located in Queens, NY. There are train services connecting JFK/LGA/NYC to Ronkonkoma station, a major train station at the east side of long island. For the Long Island Rail Road information, refer to Directions.There is shuttle service between the Ronkonkoma station and BNL: Directions. Booking is required for the BNL shuttle service.
There is a local airport, ISP, located at Ronkonkoma. Only regional flight services are provided at ISP.
Car rental might be the best way to travel in long island.

Internet & WiFi Access
Registration of Guest's Computing Devices - If guest's are bring laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc. that will require internet access, then these devices must be registered in Brookhaven National Lab's (BNL) Network Access Registration database in order to access the internet at BNL.
Registering your computer device can be done via the device's web browser upon first connecting to Brookhaven Lab's network.
EDUROM is also available at BNL site. If you have edurom acccess, you may not require additional registration.
Registering your computer devices can be done via the device's web browser upon first connecting to BNL's network. However, the registration process will require that all guests have an active BNL account. If none is available, a temporary username and password can be generated and sent to the guest via a text message to their mobile device, which can be used to register their devices.
Note, registered devices will be able to access BNL's Wireless Network for two weeks. Please contact your event coordinator if your devices require the registration to last longer.
For Guests who Cannot Receive Text Messages - If guests do not have the ability to get text messages or cannot receive text messages on their mobile devices, because they are in buildings or other spots on campus without a strong wireless signal where they are unable to receive the text, then a event coordinator can create a temporary username and password them.
The event coordinator will be considered the point of contact for all temporary user accounts they create.
Note, this username and password combination will only work for 48 hours, so please tell your guest to log in to register their devices as soon as possible. Registered devices will be able to access BNL's Wireless Network for two weeks.
