BAT-GLIMPSE: Gamma-ray Localization using Imaging and Mosaic techniques for Pointing and Slew Epochs

Europe/Paris
Samuele Ronchini (Gran Sasso Science Institute)
Description

The BAT-GLIMPSE pipeline is a real-time analysis tool for low-latency detection and arcminute localization of high-energy transients using Swift/BAT. The tutorial focuses on explaining the mosaic technique used for signal detection during spacecraft slews. Participants will gain hands-on experience with the BatAnalysis tools (Parsotan et al. 2025), learning to handle standard BAT data products such as sky images, detector plane images, light curves, and spectra. The tutorial will walk through the full analysis workflow, from raw data to image processing, final data products, and plotting. Additionally, it will include training on working with multi-order resolution sky maps to enable association with gravitational-wave alerts.
