The European Schools' Science Symposium (ESSS) is an annual competition that brings together young scientists from across Europe. Open to students from years 1 to 7 from the European Schools and Accredited European Schools, the symposium provides a platform for participants to explore scientific topics beyond the standard European Schools’ curriculum.
Guided by a teacher-mentor, students can enter as individuals or in teams of up to three, conducting research in an area of their interest. Their projects encompass an abstract, a poster, a written report, and a presentation, which are showcased during the event. A panel of teachers and subject experts evaluates the projects, with separate judging categories for junior and senior participants.
The symposium fosters scientific inquiry, creativity, and collaboration, celebrating the achievements of young researchers across the European School system.
