Toward Scalable Quantum Simulation of Lattice Gauge Theories: The Orbifold Lattice

Description
The advent of quantum hardware has motivated renewed efforts to rediscover and deepen our understanding of lattice gauge theory from a Hamiltonian perspective. In this talk, we discuss key challenges to scalability and explore how alternative Hamiltonian formulations, such as the orbifold lattice, may help address them. Preliminary Monte Carlo simulations show that the orbifold lattice reproduces the Kogut–Susskind formulation in an appropriate limit.
