Description

Neutrinos, while notoriously hard to detect, provide valuable insights into physics beyond the standard model. Many experiments to date have focused on measuring neutrino oscillation parameters, each contributing to our understanding of these phenomena. One notable project was the India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO), which, despite its substantial budget of Rs. 2000 Cr, was unfortunately discontinued for various reasons. In my talk, I will cover some groundbreaking experiments in neutrino physics, concluding with an overview of how the INO was designed to detect neutrino oscillations and a look at other planned neutrino experiments. This talk is intended for students with no prior knowledge of neutrino physics and will be presented at a basic level.
