DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Stella Chasiotis-Klingner (ESO/ LOC)\, Tony Mroczkow
 ski (ESO - European Southern Observatory)\n\nThe ALMA 2030 Vision\n\n(http
 s://zenodo.org/communities/almafed2021)\n\nA next generation of front-end
receivers\n\nThis workshop will be held online\, in the week of September
27-30\, 2021. The talks will be less 15 minutes long each\, and will be
pre-recorded in order to accommodate the large range of time zones involv
ed.\n\nThe aim of this conference is to discuss receiver development in th
e context of the ALMA 2030 Road Map.\n\nRationale:\n\nThe Atacama Large Mi
llimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) is the world’s most sensitive facili
ty for millimeter/submillimeter astronomical observations\, and will soon
be fully operational in all of the originally planned bands.  Since its f
irst observations\, ALMA has routinely delivered groundbreaking scientific
results that span nearly all areas of astrophysics.  Only future instrum
entation upgrades and improvements can help ALMA continue as the field lea
der along this path!\n\nThe vision for ALMA's future development is descri
bed in the ALMA Development Roadmap. In order to implement this vision a
series of three workshops has been envisioned\, in conjunction with corres
ponding working groups defining the appropriate scientific and technical s
pecifications. Following the first two workshops held in 2020 to discuss p
otential correlator and digitizer upgrades that will realize the ALMA
2030 vision\, we plan to complete the workshop trilogy with an ALMA Front-
End Development Workshop\, entitled The ALMA 2030 Vision: A next generatio
n of front-end receivers".\n\nThis workshop relates to the Front-End work
ing group report\, which is currently in Revision B (i.e. not the final fo
 rm)\, available here: https://science.nrao.edu/facilities/alma/science_su
 stainability/ALMA_FE_Digitizer_WG_report_released.pdf.\n\nThis report\, wh
ich we encourage you to read\, will likely be updated as the results from
other development groups in ALMA are taken into consideration\n\nThis work
shop is intended to be relatively small and focused\, but we explicitly we
lcome participation from all ALMA regions and the rest of the world. \n\n
