Indirect search for New Physics: precision physics in the LHC era

The search for New Physics at colliders can take many shapes, and while direct searches for new particles are definitely a necessity, a strong program of precision measurements together with precision calculations of the Standard Model predictions could bring us information on beyond Standard Model physics even if the LHC does not see any new resonance. I will review some of the advantages and drawbacks of this approach, focusing in particular on the measurement of the Higgs potential and the use of Effective Field Theories. With this talk I wish to introduce myself to the Department and give a comprehensive, but not too detailed, description of my research.
