Description
The Short-Baseline Near Detector (SBND) is 112-ton Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber located in the Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB) at Fermilab. As the near detector for the Short-Baseline Neutrino program, SBND is part of a multi-detector search for a variety of new physics signatures, such as oscillations driven by eV-scale sterile neutrinos. SBND also has a rich program of neutrino-argon cross-section measurements and beyond standard model searches both of which benefit from SBND’s location just 110m from the beam target. The detector is currently undergoing final commissioning and has collected an initial neutrino dataset. I will discuss the progress in commissioning SBND, an initial look at detector performance, and plans for the SBND physics program.
