Description

The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is a large international collaboration hosted by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in the US, with more than 1,500 researchers from over 35 countries. DUNE explores key open questions in particle physics and astroparticle physics, such as CP violation in the neutrino sector, the neutrino mass ordering, supernova neutrinos, and proton decay. Construction and installation of the far detectors at SURF are now well under way, with data taking set to begin in early 2030. Meanwhile, the near detector, to be installed at Fermilab, is moving towards finalizing the design, and prototype testing. Several Korean universities and institutes are already taking part in DUNE, and opportunities are open to contribute in detector development, software, data analysis, and theoretical interpretation.

This meeting was held as a Focus Session of the 2026 Fall Meeting of the Korean Physical Society (KPS).

Time/Room: October 23 (Friday) 13:30–15:26 / 402B
