DESCRIPTION:Bayesian Inference is an essential part of the analysis toolki
t in many branches of physics. On the other hand\, it is a very active fie
ld of research for the statistics community\, nowadays offering very effic
ient and sophisticated methods which some communities in physics are recen
tly starting to adopt. The scope of these lectures is two-fold: 1) to prov
ide the basis knowledge allowing to understand relevant aspects and assump
tions of typical statistical analyses\, and 2) to show modern approaches t
o Bayesian inference making possible analyses which are intractable with t
raditional methods.  \nThe format will be mostly blackboard\, with numer
ical examples from python code.  \n\nhttps://indico.global/event/19388/
