DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Giancarlo Cella (INFN Pisa)\n\nThis tutorial focuses
on parameter estimation for gravitational-wave signals using Bilby. It i
ntroduces the full analysis workflow\, from the definition of signal model
s to the interpretation of posterior distributions\, with an emphasis on r
ealistic data conditions and practical implementation. Participants work w
ith the bilby.gw framework to analyze signals from compact binary coalesc
ences. The tutorial covers waveform modeling based on the Post-Newtonian
approximation and Effective One Body formalism\, as well as detector noi
se characterization and the role of calibration and assumptions about stat
ionarity and Gaussianity. Particular attention is given to parameter degen
eracies and to the interpretation of uncertainties. Through guided exerci
ses\, participants perform complete inference runs\, explore the impact of
prior choices\, and test the robustness of results under controlled varia
tions of the analysis setup. Additional topics include injection studies a
nd extensions toward more complex inference scenarios. The goal is to prov
ide a solid and practical understanding of gravitational-wave parameter es
timation and to enable participants to carry out and critically assess the
 ir own analyses.\n\n\n09:00 Orientation: source\, detectors\, likelihood\,
  and posterior.\n09:10 PN\, EOB\, and phenomenological waveforms\; compare
signals over a justified band.\n09:40 Lab 1: inspect noise and reproduce
a likelihood ratio.\n10:10 Lab 2: complete a reduced BBH inference and ins
 pect its diagnostics.\n10:45–11:00 Break.\n11:00 Lab 3: distance–incli
 nation degeneracy and prior sensitivity.\n11:40 Lab 4: waveform\, noise\,
 calibration\, and glitch robustness.\n12:20 Lab 5: GW150914 data\, posteri
 or interpretation\, and residuals.\n12:45 Injection validation\, extension
 s\, and closing discussion.\n\n \nNote: times are indicative\n\n\n\nhttps
