DESCRIPTION:Run 3 of the Large Hadron Collider has just ended\, and the ma
chine will undergo an upgrade to increase the instantaneous luminosity by
over a factor of three. The High-Luminosity phase (HL-LHC) will enable the
collection of data sets of unprecedented size for the precision study of
fundamental physics. However\, the luminosity increase poses a substantial
challenge for the experiments\, which have to face increased levels of ra
diation and of overlapping interactions. The ATLAS experiment will undergo
a major upgrade program and will feature\, for the first time\, a dedicat
ed High Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) instrumenting the forward detec
tor regions. The HGTD is designed to provide charged particle track timing
information with a resolution of 30-50 ps over its lifetime. This seminar
will review the design of the HGTD detector\, the key results recently ac
hieved\, and the status of the project towards construction.\nZOOM LINK\n\
