DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Matteo Di Carlo (CERN)\n\n\nPrecision flavour physic
s is a powerful tool to test the Standard Model and search for new physics
beyond the TeV scale. In this talk\, I will discuss recent progress in la
ttice QCD calculations of long-distance hadronic effects relevant to flavo
ur phenomenology\, focusing on two research directions.\nThe first directi
on concerns electromagnetic corrections to weak decay amplitudes\, includi
ng leptonic meson decays\, inclusive hadronic tau decays\, and possible ex
tensions to semileptonic processes. These corrections are crucial for the
precise extraction of CKM matrix elements from experimental decay rates. T
he second addresses long-distance contributions to neutral D-meson mixing\
, through the calculation of absorptive and dispersive amplitudes involvin
g intermediate hadronic states. This programme provides first-principles i
nput for observables of direct phenomenological interest\, with potential
implications for studies of CP violation in the charm sector and possible
 extensions to the kaon sector.\n\n\nhttps://indico.global/event/18155/
