Description

Abstract:

Precise luminosity determination is essential for the PANDA experiment
at FAIR, especially for cross-section measurements and resonance energy
scans. In the fixed-target setup, residual hydrogen gas (Restgas) from
the target creates an extended interaction background along the beam
pipe, which can bias the luminosity measurement. The seminar will
explain how this Restgas background is incorporated into the luminosity
determination framework and how its spatial profile can be reconstructed
from displaced interaction vertices for improved luminosity precision.
