DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Christoph Langenbruch (University of Heidelberg)\n\n
Precision measurements of heavy flavour decays constitute powerful tests o
f the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. Rare flavour changing neut
ral current decays are particularly sensitive probes as they are heavily (
loop-)suppressed in the SM. New heavy particles can contribute to these p
rocesses through virtual quantum corrections and significantly affect thei
r decay rates and angular observables\, thereby allowing to probe New Phy
sics scales well beyond those accessible through direct searches. In this
talk I will present the most recent results on the key rare decay B0->K*0
mumu from the LHCb Experiment using the Run 1 and 2 data sample. The angul
ar distributions of this decay and its rate are found to be in tension wi
th SM predictions\, consistent with tensions seen in other rare b->smumu d
ecays. Finally\, I will discuss potential interpretations of these anomal
ies and give prospects for their clarification in the future.\nhttps://cer
