DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Borbála Cseh\n\nIn light of supporting all interest
ed scientists to participate\, we would like to inform you that the worksh
op will run in hybrid mode\, with both in person and online attendance pos
sible.\nScientific Rationale\nThe evolution of Asymptotic giant branch (AG
 B) stars is characterized a large variety of processes: from pulsation an
d dust formation to internal mixing\, nuclear burning\, and strong mass l
oss\, resulting in a significant role of these stars in the chemical evol
ution of galaxies\, and including the production of the chemical elements
needed for life. In the era of large telescopes and monitoring surveys w
ith a largest amount of available multi-wavelength data in the history\, t
he interpretation of AGB phenomena needs a multifaceted approach. Our aim
is to bring together researchers from the different fields of AGB and stel
lar pulsation to discuss the open questions related to AGB stars\, especia
lly connecting their variability and different classifications.\n \nSpeci
fically\, the aim of the workshop is to cover and discuss:\n\n\nObservatio
nal and modelling characterization of the changing pulsation through the e
volutionary process of AGBs\nChanges in chemical composition\, and their r
elation with and impact on the pulsation properties and the presence of t
he long secondary period\nThe role of binaries and planets in the appearan
ce of the long secondary period\n\n\n \nVia common discussion we plan to
identify possible solutions as well as plan future efforts to solve these
  current problems.\n \n\n     \n\n \n\nhttps://indico.global/event/165
